The workspace and its facilities

This space is a complex of 14 re-purposed shipping containers and two double-decker buses that serve as a cowork space for a creative community. The buses have been transformed into a cafeteria and a meeting room. The shipping containers have large windows, and come with desks, seats, WiFi, air conditioning and electricity. Each container seats up to five people. This centre is also a multicultural venue with events throughout the year including theatre, cinema, DJ sets, concerts, exhibitions, food market and workshops. Each month the community meets for lunch to discuss their projects and explore collaborations.

The location

This is a creative space in the Alcântara district of Lisbon, located at the back of the municipal tram depot and underneath the iconic Ponte 25 de Abril. This makes the setting of Village Underground extremely unusual and impressive, as the surrounding space is occupied by incredible architecture and disused trams. Alcântara is served by many trams and buses. It is a busy area, with plenty of shops and restaurants where you can keep clients entertained. Close by, there are art galleries and museums to explore.
