The location
Macerata is a city located in the Marche region of central Italy, with a population of around 41,000 people. It is situated on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding countryside and is known for its beautiful architecture and cultural heritage. One of the city's most famous landmarks is the Sferisterio, an open-air arena that was originally built in the 1820s for playing the traditional Italian ball game of pallone. Today, it is used for cultural events such as opera performances and concerts. The city's medieval walls and towers are also well-preserved and provide a glimpse into its rich history.
