Last year 83% of Singaporean employees experienced burnout due to overworking, and 74% also faced imposter syndrome. Although a lot has changed in 2021, employees still report working late more often and continued feelings of burnout.
Fortunately, 43% feel optimistic about 2022, and the workplace is adapting. Remote and flexible working has become more popular, and many businesses are optimising Singapore office space to provide more flexibility. A more significant focus is also being placed on mental health at work, with the Singapore government launching a tool to help businesses identify workplace stress and improve conditions, and more companies working to help their teams find a better balance.
One of the simplest ways to take charge of work-life balance is to take regular breaks. With our strategic leave calendar for 2022, you can book an extended holiday using fewer leave days by taking advantage of public holidays and weekends.
Singapore has a minimum legal requirement of 7 days of annual leave entitlement for employees. However, most companies give their workers a minimum of 14 days a year, plus an extra day for each additional year at the company. Here are some ways to make the most of your leave and make 2022 your best year yet for work-life balance.

Chinese New Year will be celebrated at the start of February 2022. Book leave on the 3rd and 4th of February, and you’ll enjoy six days off during this festive period while using just two days.
April/ May
The Easter weekend falls in the middle of April, while May will include various holidays, namely Labour Day, Hari Raya Puasa and Vesak Day. You can take a nice long break in April by booking leave from the 11th – 14th. That way, you’ll get nine days off while using four leave days.

Treat yourself to an extra-long weekend in August. Tuesday the 9th is National Day, so book the 8th, 10th, 11th and 12th off, and you can enjoy a 9-day stretch for just four leave days.
October
The 24th of October marks Singapore’s annual Deepavali celebrations. Take time off from the 25th to the 28th, and you’ll be able to relax for nine days by booking 4.
