Did you know that Singapore is one of the most vacation-deprived countries in the world? Around four in five Singaporean workers feel burned out and struggle to unplug from work. Mercer also reports that one in five Singapore-based workers feel de-energised, 85% are at risk of burnout, and one in two are planning to change jobs in the next year.
You can reduce your risk of burnout by taking advantage of your available leave days to maximise your time off in the coming year. Our strategic 2023 calendar will help you to get the most out of your leave days.

How to plan your 2023 vacation days
January
Book four days off to get eight days of holiday/Book three days off to get nine days of holiday
Take a few days of leave as the New Year begins, and start 2023 in vacation mode, returning to the office on Monday 8 January. Or if you prefer, save your leave days for the Chinese New Year, and get a nice long break at the end of the month.
April
Book four days off to get nine days of holiday
During April 2023 there are two opportunities to enjoy nine days of holiday while only booking four days of leave time. You can do this at the start of April (the Good Friday holiday is on 7 April), or later in the month (Hari Raya Puasa means Friday 21 April is also a holiday).
May
Book four days off to get nine days of holiday
Monday 1 May is Labour Day, which means you can use four days of leave and get nine days off, starting from the last weekend in April.
June/July
Book nine days off to get 16 days of holiday
Mid-year is the perfect time for a break. You can enjoy a long weekend at the beginning of the month, with Vesak Day taking place on Friday 2 June, but there’s a much bigger opportunity to maximise your holiday time a few weeks down the line.
Hari Raya Haji on Thursday 29 June means you can book off four days and enjoy nine days of holiday. You can also extend your leave time into the first week of July, taking a total of 16 days’ holiday while using just nine days of leave.
August
Book four days off to get nine days of holiday
Wednesday 9 August is National Day, meaning you can take a full week off – with a weekend on each side – and use just four annual leave days.
November
Book nine days off to get 16 days of holiday
The Deepavali holidays in mid-November give you a chance to get double the holiday for your booked leave days. If that end-of-year fatigue is catching up to you, now is the perfect time to relax and recharge.
December
Book four days off to get nine days of holiday
Christmas Day falls on a Monday in 2023, so you can take four days off and get nine days of holiday. This will take you into the New Year feeling refreshed and ready to tackle new challenges.
With some strategic planning around your leave days, you can look forward to more relaxation and better work-life balance in 2023.
