London’s iconic skyline has changed dramatically in the past few years and continues to transform as numerous new landmark buildings take their place in the city’s bustling central business district.
Within their walls, the movers and shakers of the corporate world are growing and shaping their businesses with the added benefit of a prime London office location. Did you know a number of the city’s most famous buildings also include convenient, affordable serviced office space options? With a flexible office lease, your business could soon be rubbing shoulders with industry leaders.
Here’s a list of seven prestigious London locations where tenants can do business in the comfort of their own serviced office.
The Gherkin
30 St Mary Axe, more commonly known as the Gherkin, stands on the site of the former Baltic Exchange and since its completion in 2004, the 180 metre high property has become one of the best-known features of the city skyline. A serviced office in the Gherkin puts tenants in the company of numerous respectable fellow occupiers – among them Standard Life Investments and Coutts.
Broadgate Tower
This 33 storey building was completed in 2009 and is currently ranked as the city’s fourth tallest building. Each floor of the tower offers 13,000 square feet (equivalent to 1200 square metres) of floor space, not to mention impressive panoramic views of London. Architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill designed these offices to include large glass panes that let in plenty of natural light. This commercial property is situated in the city’s north east corner, close to Liverpool Street station – a convenient transport link for commuters.
Centre Point
The concrete-and-glass construction on New Oxford Street was one of London’s first skyscrapers, completed back in the 1960s. It is close to the Tottenham Court Road tube station and is a popular location for business dinners, thanks to the Paramount restaurant on the 32nd floor, and 360-degree viewing deck on the 33rd. This iconic building has truly stood the test of time, surviving years of criticism – and a whole decade of standing empty – to become one of London’s most well-known modern office spaces. Centre Point was even awarded a Grade Two listing in 1995.
Euston Tower
Grade A serviced office space ranging from 1- 200 workstations is available in this majestic 34 storey Camden skyscraper. Euston Tower was once the home of Capital Radio and today it is occupied by renowned corporations like JP Morgan and Santander. Serviced offices in this building place businesses close to a variety of local amenities and no less than five underground stations. The building’s glass curtain walls also allow for an awe-inspiring view from these offices.
Heron Tower
Architects aimed to “break out of the box of the commercial high rise development” when designing the 28m Heron Tower, which is home to a variety of flexible office spaces including the innovative 3 floor village concept. The tower’s restaurant and sky bar, situated on the 39th floor, add an element of luxury for its tenants. The reception area of Heron Tower is also particularly impressive, featuring a beautiful 70,000-litre aquarium with over 1,200 fish.
One Canada Square
This 50-storey skyscraper is found in London’s prestigious Canary Wharf. Before the completion of the Shard, One Canada Square was also known as the UK’s tallest building, and despite the drop to second place, it still enjoys a reputation as a premium business location that includes serviced office space.
Tower 42
Originally built to house the international division of the National Westminster Bank, this skyscraper on Old Broad Street has since become a general purpose office building with tenants such as Samsung, Daewoo Securities, Hong Kong Airlines and the European Banking Authority. Tower 42 is the City of London’s second-tallest skyscraper and is widely considered to be an excellent office premises. The building is also known for its impressive LED lighting display, which spans levels 39 to 45.
London’s Walkie Talkie and Leadenhall Building (the “Cheese Grater”) might also soon include serviced office space to let, although this is yet to be confirmed.
