Instant Success with Fancy Dress Lawn Green Bowling
On a traditional hot, sunny summers day in August, and by
traditional I mean cold, wet and windy the whole office ventured to our local
lawn green bowling facility for an evening of pub quiz questions and team
bowling.
We were all separated into teams of 4 and we had to come up
with themes. The regular goers had to
make way for our eclectic mix of outfits.
We had everything from Cats to super-hero’s and I am sure we made some
of the public double take. The
game is simple, each team has 8 bowls and whoever is nearest to the jack wins
the game. However our cunning
organisers, Finance Manager Charlotte Willis and Credit Control Manager Mel
Warren, applied their own twist to proceedings.
Every team would be given just 4 bowls and each team had to answer 4
questions in the hope of bowling with a full quota of 8 bowls. The game in theory was simple, answer the questions – get 8
bowls, bowl and get closest to the white jack.
However, a few people took to the green and took a more progressive
approach, which basically consisted of a ten-pin bowling action and firing the
ball down the middle in hope of getting closest to the white. Perhaps a little patience is what was
needed.
After several round robin games we came down to the
final. Two teams battled the final, one led by
Corporate Sales Director Lee Casbolt and his trio of ladies, Emily Lowe,
Natalia Tarson and Jess Tafreshi called the A-Team versus the team led by Corporate Account
Manager Branton Moore and his trio of female dogs (This is a family sensitive
publication) RJ Peach, Cristina Belcher and Dave Marcuson. For dramatic effect it was a close game that
came down to the very last two balls.
Captain Lee Casbolt dropped his bowl right on the jack meaning that Dave
Marcuson had to knock Lee’s ball out of the way for any chance of a
victory. With an aggressive approach
Dave fired the ball down the green….and completely missed everything earning a
hard fought victory to Lee’s A-Team.
We finished with a company bowl off to find who could land the ball
closest to the gully with bottle of wine being awarded to European Sales
Consultant Marie Meral and Operator Relationship Manager Matt Watts.
