Banking giant Barclays aims to significantly reduce the amount of office space it uses at its UK HQ, Churchill Place, by introducing a desk sharing programme. This new room management software has reportedly already saved the bank 20% of premium office space.
With 20% of desk space unused at any certain time and up to 30% of meeting room space not utilised at the original allocated time, Barclays identified the need for a desk sharing programme, also referred to as “hot-desking”, to enhance their efficiency drive. RNM Systems, producers of a space management software called “Condeco”, were brought in by the bank to roll this out.
Staff are now able to book their own meeting rooms and desk space as and when required, thus resulting in improved efficiency in the allocation of desk space and savings made on administration.
