1. Tell us a little bit about yourself
I am a Global Account Manager within the corporate solutions team. My background prior to joining The Instant Group was very ‘un-property’ – I worked in sports broadcasting for a few years before deciding I wanted to be part of a business that had a more dynamic feel, a sense of competition and drive, and in a role that was client facing.
2. What is your role at The Instant Group? What does it entail?
As mentioned, my role is that of Global Account Manager on the corporate solutions team. My time is split between dealing directly with corporate clients and working with commercial agents within our channel partnerships. With both of these areas, the aim is to establish relationships with clients and to work with them on their flexible workspace portfolio – be that a serviced office, a managed solution, portfolio services or any number of other solutions we may create to match a client’s requirements.
3. Why do you enjoy working for The Instant Group?
The two main reasons are the people and the company’s outlook. If you’re spending the majority of every week with the same group of people, it’s a bonus if they’re bearable! Everyone at The Instant Group believes in what the business is trying to achieve and works hard towards that. They can occasionally have a good time too!
From a company perspective, there is very much an attitude of responsibility. You are encouraged to get out there and make decisions, trust yourself and know you have the backing of the company. Ultimately this improves your skills in the industry and benefits the business too.
4. What is the most commonly asked question in your line of work?
‘Is that negotiable?’ In a market that is increasingly tight on space, operators and landlords are understandably looking for higher rents and rates due to the competition they are entertaining for their space. As a result, clients who are unfamiliar with the serviced market, or commercial real estate in general, can be surprised and deterred by initial costs. Whilst obvious, negotiating on rates with operators often instils the required confidence in the client to continue the process.
5. What do you love about the city you work in?
I love the pace of London, everything moves so quickly. But I primarily love the restaurants – there is something for every taste in this city!
6. What are the main trends you have seen in the industry since you joined The Instant Group?
As well documented as it is, the market and the clients within the industry are increasingly looking to be more dynamic and agile, and are able to exercise a greater level of flexibility over their portfolios. From traditional and well established MNCs to start-ups in the tech sector, there is huge demand for flexible workspace.
